Started the month at 13. 4½ and ended it at 13st 1¾ Which means my BMI was 35.5 and is now 34.6. Still in the obese range, but I am getting there

I have posted this before, but it’s that time of year when more bikers are out and about.

I saw you; hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn’t see me put an extra £10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.
I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn’t see me playing Santa at the local Mall.
I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front. But you didn’t see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.
I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn’t see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.
I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn’t see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.
I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn’t see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.
I saw you roll your eyes at our Leather jackets and gloves. But you didn’t see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none.
I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn’t see me cry as my children where born or have their name written over and in my heart.
I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn’t see me going home to be with my family.
I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn’t see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.
I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn’t see me pat my child’s hands knowing she was safe behind me.
I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn’t see me squeeze my wife’s leg when she told me to take the next turn.
I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn’t see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.
I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn’t see me trying to turn right.
I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn’t see me leave the road.
I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn’t see me. I wasn’t there.
I saw you go home to your family. But you didn’t see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family.

But you didn’t see me.

Repost this around in hopes that people will understand the biker community. If you don’t repost this, it sucks to be you. I hope you never lose someone that rides.EVEN IF YOU DON’T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS TO RIDE WHAT WE CHOOSE AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA
SECONDS TO BE SURE WE ARE NOT IN ‘YOUR’ WAY

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble getting on to Jono’s and Judy’s sites, I keep getting an ‘Internet Explorer’ cannot open this file message and the whole thing closes down and I have to re-boot?

On Sunday we decided to do the Highley trail, this walk is about 4 miles and takes in some of the local history of the area; it is a mix of river side, woodland, track and road walking. We started the trail at the visitors centre and walked down the gravel path to the river then along to Stanley where we should have taken steps over the railway line, however theses are no longer in use so we had to walk further down the river until we came to the information centre and cross there. Now we were at Highley Station and were in just in time to see a seam train pull in.

Then on to the Mining Wheel sculpture which is dedicated to all the local miners.

We followed the trail through cuttings and sandstone houses into Highley where again we were faced with a locked gate that we should have been able to get through, this time however we climbed over it, and went for a look around Highley Church which is really pretty inside. Our walk then took us into the village where we had a look at the clock sculpture which was erected in 1999, not too impressive. A short walk through the village and we were back on dirt tracks to Country Park Halt were we stood and watched another steam train go by. Then the short walk back to the car, (up hill and my boots had rubbed me ouch, my own fault I forgot to put my walking socks in my bag doh!)

On the news today 2 million out of work and only ½ million jobs available. Women are hardest hit this time as it is retail and the caring professions that are going to the wall. My first reaction was what hopes do I have of getting back into work! Then after giving it a bit of thought maybe it’s not so bad. Yes it will be hard but having a mom at home with the kids may be a good thing; it may help people to see that family life is important. Sometimes I feel we have lost the way, while I understand some families need two wages to meet their bills, others need two wages to fuel their life style, which is not the same thing. Children will have to learn that ‘ask can have’ is not an option, families will have to learn to ‘make do and mend’ and make days out simpler. There’s nothing drives me mad like listening to parents saying ‘I don’t know what to do with the children in school holidays, everything costs so much’ A picnic and trip to the park costs next to nothing, and here’s a thought why not play with them. I have got off the point a bit here, its hard yes but ‘you cut your cloth.’

Next some council’s are trialling ‘Pay to throw’ in which they weigh the rubbish in your bin and charge you accordingly. I can see lots of draw backs with this, like people putting rubbish in other people’s bins, fly-tipping and let’s face it enough of that goes on now. It wouldn’t bother me, we recycle quite a lot, and I wonder would we get a rebate on our council tax? But it will be hard for big families, or people who live in flats who don’t have room to store recycled rubbish.
If you pay to throw how’s it going?

Talking about council tax, it’s rumoured to be going up by 3 ½ %, we are still waiting to hear how much our water is going up.

And on that note I will leave you with this…

You Are Not a Pack Rat

You’re not a pack rat – and there’s probably no rats in your home.

You have a living style that’s totally minimalist. You’re definitely not attached to stuff.

Merry Christmas to all

Yesterday I had cooked a ham, done one load of washing, got the bus into Oldbury done a bit of shopping, (all the things I said I wasn’t going to buy this year, well if you can’t eat and drink a little too much at this time of year when can you)? And was back home by 8.20am. I put on some Christmas music and set to work making cranberry sauce, Jamie Oliver’s mince pies, with my home made mincemeat,(only one jar left now), which didn’t turn out quiet right. Jamie said not to grease the tins, his popped out, mine didn’t. Never mind they are still edible and the mint chocolate puds for Christmas day. I then sorted out the pantry so that all the Christmas goodies will fit in, and began to unpack all the nice’s. I couldn’t get all the mince pies in the tin, so I had to eat some, I couldn’t get all the nuts in the tub, so I had to eat some, I couldn’t get all the crackers in the barrel, so I had to eat some, I felt a bit sick by dinner time! I then folded the napkins, fans for the Christmas Eve meal and candles for the Christmas day dinner.

So today it’s cleaning and cooking before our Christmas Eve tea.

All that is left for me to say is

Have a very merry Christmas and a peaceful new year’

And may the New Year make all your dreams come true

Today we decided to go Blackberry picking, I had hoped to come home with enough to make a pie and freeze a few, no such luck. The weather has been that wet the fruit is going mouldy on the bushes! We managed to get enough to make a pie if I mix them with apple.

You Are Pretty Charming

While you’re not a natural charmer, you can be charming when you want to be.

And lucky for those around you, you usually feel like turning on the charm. You project a happy, calm image – even when you’re feeling the exact opposite.

You make people feel great about being around you… though you’re not always up for putting in the effort.

I love this one

There once was a woman who woke up one morning,
Looked in the mirror and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
Well, she said, I think Ill braid my hair today?
So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up,
Looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
H-M-M, she said, I think Ill part my hair down the middle today?
So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
Well, she said, today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.
YEA! She exclaimed, I don’t have to fix my hair today!

Attitude is everything.
• Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
• Live simply,
• Love generously,
• Care deeply,
• Speak kindly…….
Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

At this time of year my thoughts always turn to Christmas, and more so today, we are in summer, however nobody thought to tell the weather. It’s wet and cold; I have a jumper on and have had to put the fire on just so that I can feel my fingers.

What I like about Christmas is the feel of it, I love to see the shops all lit up and the excited looks on the faces of the little ones as they queue to see Santa.  I love standing in a field arguing with hubby about the size of the tree we need, (happens every year, I pick a tree, he says it’s far to big, he picks a smaller one, I have a sulk, we buy the tree he has picked and still end up cutting two foot off it to get it in the house). I love cooking and setting the table with all the pretty cloths and candles and having people round, I don’t find it hard work at all. I love the old movies, White Christmas, Holiday Inn, miracle on 34th street, (the black and white version), and my favourite It’s a wonderful life, then there are the newer ones like the Santa Claws movies, and any version of a Christmas Carol you care to mention, all giving out the message that with a little love and faith everything will be alright.

I love to give present, but am not that bother if I receive any, and am just as happy with a bottle of shower gel as anything else. I know people who turn their nose’s up at things they have been given, but I really believe that it’s the thought that counts.  I also see nothing wrong with giving a present you have received to someone else if you can’t make use of it, better that than throw it away.

Christmas  morning has a feel to it that I can’t explain, I like to get up early, make a cuppa, then stand on the back doorstep (no matter what the weather), there is just something in the air.

Well that’s it I am off to wrap the two Christmas presents I already have.

And may I be the first to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

So let me update you again on ‘The Public’ I rang again yesterday and got the same message, so I left my number yet again. So this morning I got on the bus and went into West Bromwich to do it in person, only to be told ‘we are not open yet, there is still working being done, we opened last weekend to see if the building was people friendly. We may do another free tour, we are not sure.’ So I pointed out that it states on this website that for the next three weeks it is free to visit but you have to make an appointment on this number, which I have tried to do. They both looked a little confused, ‘we don’t open until the 19th they said’ But then it won’t be free will it I asked. The down stairs will be free, (which is the café and toilets), but that’s free anyway isn’t I asked. ‘Yes they said. All I can say is typical Sandwell! I will give the two young people who dealt me with their due, both pleasant and couldn’t apologise enough, when it wasn’t really their fault, and they showed me the theatre, which is quite nice.
