At this time of year my thoughts always turn to Christmas, and more so today, we are in summer, however nobody thought to tell the weather. It’s wet and cold; I have a jumper on and have had to put the fire on just so that I can feel my fingers.
What I like about Christmas is the feel of it, I love to see the shops all lit up and the excited looks on the faces of the little ones as they queue to see Santa. I love standing in a field arguing with hubby about the size of the tree we need, (happens every year, I pick a tree, he says it’s far to big, he picks a smaller one, I have a sulk, we buy the tree he has picked and still end up cutting two foot off it to get it in the house). I love cooking and setting the table with all the pretty cloths and candles and having people round, I don’t find it hard work at all. I love the old movies, White Christmas, Holiday Inn, miracle on 34th street, (the black and white version), and my favourite It’s a wonderful life, then there are the newer ones like the Santa Claws movies, and any version of a Christmas Carol you care to mention, all giving out the message that with a little love and faith everything will be alright.
I love to give present, but am not that bother if I receive any, and am just as happy with a bottle of shower gel as anything else. I know people who turn their nose’s up at things they have been given, but I really believe that it’s the thought that counts. I also see nothing wrong with giving a present you have received to someone else if you can’t make use of it, better that than throw it away.
Christmas morning has a feel to it that I can’t explain, I like to get up early, make a cuppa, then stand on the back doorstep (no matter what the weather), there is just something in the air.
Well that’s it I am off to wrap the two Christmas presents I already have.
And may I be the first to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year
Be Happy

Hi Lom… well pal it’s official and is as I thought – you are as soppy a mare as me.. I knew it was true that folk tend to gravitate towards other folk who are like them but I’ve never been so ‘bang on ‘ before ! You ticked every box !
Now, may I return the favour and wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year…
Love Kate xxx.

I love Christmas too. I no longer buy too many gifts simply because of the cash constraints but I love to make cookies and decorate our home and I love to do what shopping I do. I have a limit of $20 per gift and it’s always so much fun to see what really nice gifts I can find for $20.
My favorite film is “A Christmas Carol”.

I love Christmas. My twin daughters live on a horse farm and I spend the night on Christmas Eve. We prepare all the food for Christmas Day Dinner and on Christmas morning we go out at sunrise and feed the horses, take pictures. Then, we have our coffee and start on the meal again. The rest of the family comes for dinner. It is a wonderful time and I love it.

Kate, thank you, we soppy mares must stick together, one day we will take over the world, and it will be a much nicer place.
Margie, welcome, I think small well thought out gives are the best, and home made even better.
Judy, how lovely, have you ever heard the horses talk? Animals are supposed to be able to take on christmas Eve. I know, but it’s a nice thought.
Steve, It’s never to early for Christmas, watch out for the three ghosts

Oh Heavens, thinking about Christmas in August? I must admit it crossed my mind only last week – wondering what we’d do for Christmas dinner this year. We’ve kind of given up on typical British ’stodge’ but have yet to master the typical, elegant French version.

Sandy, what do the French eat for Christmas dinner, is there a lot of wine included?
